Amsterdam artist Hebe presents the fragility of long distance relationships through her melodic electro-pop single ‘Out Of Sight’. Inspired by her own relationship with her boyfriend who lives in Uganda, the lyrics capture the vulnerability, insecurity, pain, hope and love that’s evoked by a love connection is stretched between two countries. As Hebe says of her relationship: “I regularly travel between The Netherlands and Uganda to visit my boyfriend who lives in Kampala. Before we started this adventure, all these questions and insecurities came over me. I was afraid to express my thoughts, fears and expectations, so I wrote down all I wanted to say and that became ‘Out of Sight'”. These feelings are so finely distilled that anything other than a rich composition wouldn’t suit, and so Hebe has called on fellow Dutch musicians like the award-winning producer/mixer Huub Reijnders and drummer Martijn Bosman to provide soaring instrumentals. This soulful track is further brought to life through a video filmed in Uganda, exploring the people and landscapes that define half of Hebe’s life. - Hannah Thacker
